April Report From The Coordinator

A Special Mosamaria Board meeting was held on Wednesday the 20th of April to discuss the structure of the board and the formation of Sub-Committees to get board members more involved with supporting the Mosamaria management. New board members who have kindly agreed to be co-opted because of their particular expertise are:

  • Solomzi Henge – an engineer with the Mangaung Metro
  • Gerald Roberts – a retired businessman with extensive experience in government structures, as he headed SASSA locally for a number of years.
  • Matlalane Liphoto –  a media specialist and currently an English lecturer
  • Motlagomang Molokoane – a media specialist who is very involved with church community development work.

The meeting decided that Gerald Roberts and John Anderson would scrutinise the Mosamaria constitution and see if it is in line with all the recommendations of the King 3 report. They will also report back to the board on the structuring of appropriate sub-committees. Mme Kabelo Makhetha and Dr.Ellen Blekie were appointed to liaise with and advise the Mosamaria management until further restructuring is done.

Mosamaria board members committed themselves to each recruiting 5 people who would join Mosamaria as ordinary members, to improve community involvement. These members will all have a right to vote at the AGM later this year.

On Tuesday 18 April Mosamaria management met for the whole day. The first session was facilitated by Mme Dimakatso on her impressions where Mosamaria needs to develop and improve its organisational structure and strategies. Mme Dimakatso has a wealth of experience in this field which is a great blessing to Mosamaria. She has joined the staff as the M&E officer to stand in for Boitumelo Tlhapuletsa while she is on maternity leave. Her baby is due on 28 April – great excitement!
