The Anglican Diocese of the Free State started Mosamaria Aids Ministry in 2003. The Isiseko Sokomoleza (Laying the Foundation) Programme was an initiative of Archbishop Njongonkulu Ndungane, for the Anglican Church of Southern Africa to reach out to those who are sick and suffering through being infected or affected by the pandemic of HIV/AIDS. Funds were obtained from DfiD in conjunction with the Archbishop’s office, to educate church leaders about HIV to break the silence and stigma around the disease.
Mosamaria AIDS Ministry is a registered non-profit organisation, with its own independent Board. There is also an Executive Committee, which sees to the day-to-day management together with the Mosamaria Coordinator. The Diocesan Trusts Board pays the salary of the Mosamaria Coordinator.
We rely on the generosity of South Africa and people abroad to fund our activities and projects. So whether you are looking for information on AIDS, you want to know what help or support we offer, or you want to get involved in the work of the Ministry as a volunteer, you will find information here.
